Bear Hunting/Hunts

Indianhead Chapter has Bear Hunt Training with dogs on August 1, 2009

On August 1st, 2009, Indianhead Chapter President Nick Murawski and Member Rick Kramer invited two area kids, Donnie and Spud to participate in a Bear Hunting Training Event.  President Nick provided six of his personally-owned Plott hound dogs, all well aquainted with chasing and treeing bears.   They have been on many hunts together and have tracked some bears for over 20 miles. There were a lot of questions from the kids, and they even provided some help on the hunt. No bears were treed, as all bears that the team joined up with just ran and continued to cross roads and elude the hunters. One Turkey was flushed. The kids learned a valuable lesson from Nick and Rick, that “just releasing the dogs and later finding a bear in a tree is just not the way it works.”
