Marksmanship Skills

Indianhead Chapter of KAMO and the Rusk County 4-H team up to revive long lost "Shooting Sports".

It has been approximately 10 years since the Rusk County 4-H Club has been able to provide their members the opportunity to enjoy shooting sports, primarily due to a lack of shooting instructors.  A number of gas operated and pump pellet rifles and pistols had been stored away in the basement of the Rusk County Law Enforcement Center.  A number of bows and arrows were also stored away unused for years.

However, on Thursday, July 16th, 2009, this equipment was dusted off and again put to use.  Indianhead Chapter KAMO Mentors Bob, Rick, John and Vern volunteered to instruct approximately 35 youth campers and youth counselors during a 3-day camping outing at the Rusk County Trails End Campground.  A number of arrows had to be repaired before the event could get started.  Four .17 cal. gas operated pellet rifles started the day but only one was still in operation after the third group of shooters.  KAMO has some work to do before the next shooting session.  A battery operated "shooting gallery" was used to provide targets.  The day was a bit cool, but a great time was had by all participants and KAMO Mentors.  The Trails End Campground is located approximately five miles from Bruce, Wisconsin.
