On this page the Indianhead Chapter posts stories about how our Mentors meet the needs of kids through One on One Activities

This story is shared by Indianhead Chapter Member Jim.  He relates: "After her Mother read about the KAMO organization in the Wisconsin State Journal, Melanie contacted me in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and inquired about getting her son, Noah, out hunting.  She and Noah then drove from St. Paul, Minneapolis to Ladysmith, twice this Fall.  Once, so that Noah could be instructed in shooting; he was given the opportunity to sight in a new Ruger 10-22, shoot a .410, and participate with Jim on a rabbit hunt (one shot, no luck).  Then, on his second trip, Noah came for a day of Doe Hunting in the December 2009 late season (a cardboard box was nailed twice, and two whitetail deer were sighted, but managed to escape).  Noah is looking forward to Ice Fishing and Rabbit Hunting with the Indianhead Chapter of KAMO."

UPDATE:  On April 19th, 2010, this KAMO Mentor reports "It made my day to receive Noah's call this morning, saying he had shot a turkey in Minnesota earlier today. Great that he made a good shot on a "glorified feathered reptile" and even better that he thought of telling me about it. Thanks for the info."...and, Noah's Mom reports back: "Naturally Noah would want to tell you because you've been so instrumental in this whole process of learning about and experiencing hunting. We're both very grateful. Melanie.
