Hiking PhotosThe Indianhead Chapter of KAMO is working with staff at the reclaimed Flambeau mine to offer annual hiking events for kids like we did in May of 2010. The reclaimed Flambeau mine site is located on Wisconsin Highway 27 and is about 1.5 miles south of the city of Ladysmith, in Rusk County, Wisconsin. Situated alongside the beautiful Flambeau River in northern Wisconsin, the reclaimed Flambeau mine site offers hiking and nature trails and adjacent equestrian trails through thriving woodland, grassland and wetland areas. Bird-watching is spectacular. The site is teeming with wildlife with hundreds of species of birds, plants and trees thriving on the site. Newly opened multi-use equestrian trails are among the few riding trails in Rusk County. To see information on the May 2010 Hike go to the Indianhead Chapter HOME page, and see the section that includes activities for May. |
