On Saturday, February 14th the KAMO Northwoods Chapter hosted our annual ice fishing event on Lake Emily, held in conjunction with One-O-Ones annual Florence County Waters Fishing Derby. It was a gorgeous winter day, full of smiles, food, sunshine and lots of fish! We had a record turnout this year of 53 kids, many who got to experience ice fishing for the very first time. They were able to get up close and personal with all the gear, and be as hands on as they wanted! It was a great success thanks to all of our mentors, volunteers and the many donors making the event possible! We cannot say thank you enough!
It was a hot fall day with temps in the 70s and 80s at Howard Reeds Shady Game Farm, but it did not deter 18 youth and many volunteers on Saturday, October 4th as the KAMO Northwoods Chapter held its annual pheasant shoot. We were blessed to have Dan LaBeske and Echo to help put up some birds.
The kids spent the morning with a hunter safety refresher and shooting clays, and everyone had an opportunity at a pheasant as well. A bird cleaning demonstration and lunch followed.
The clays, ammo, birds, hats, and lunch were all provided at this free annual event. A big thank you goes out to all those who helped make this a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the fall season!
We would like to give a big thanks to Howard Reed at Shady Game Farm, Dan LaBeske, snd Echo. This event would not be possible without the hands and hearts of many volunteers, and for that, we thank you.
Propbusters
On Saturday Sept 14 KAMO Northwoods along with the Iron Mountain Propbusters hosted the 2nd Annual Gary Steber Fun Fly event.
Kids along with their families were invited out to Steber Farms in Florence, WI for a hayride, some lunch and to see the RC planes in action and learn more about this activity and how to get started! A big thanks goes out to Will and Terry Verley for giving the kids an opportunity to fly as well!
Thank you to the Iron Mountain Propbusters for you generous donation to our organization, and to all the pilots who traveled for the event to put on an awesome show!
On Saturday July 26th the Kids and Mentors Outdoors Northwoods Chapter hosted our annual Hooked on Fishing outing at Lake Emily! There was lots of catches and smiles all around – even some first timers with their first catches! We had a great group of children, volunteers, and guardians for another successful event!
A special thanks to our grill masters who served up a wonderful lunch, the fleet of boat captains who got all the kids out fishing, all the mentors who handled worms, fish, and tangled lines, and to everyone who snapped a bunch of photos! Thank you ALL for making it a great day!
We have been blessed by many people, businesses, and organizations who have contributed their time, support and donations for this event throughout the years. Without it, this event would not be possible. Thank you!
