It would be a good time to schedule a MacKenzie LTH planning meeting on a Monday night in September.

Baraboo – The Baraboo River Chapter held our monthly meeting on Monday May 8th at Kevin Seymour?s ?campfire?, however the meeting was moved to the kitchen due to storms and heavy rain. Our small group reported 123 hours spent in the past month getting Kids Outdoors. This was mainly fishing, camping, hiking and golf. We accepted a donation check from Lois Altmann in memory of Donald Weiler and will get a Thank You note sent out. Kevin Seymour has secured a donated gun that we plan to use for the Bingo Grand Prize at the December Joe Hunt. We did transfer the enclosed KAMO trailer to the Dodge County Conservation Chapter in the past month. Mike Brown did get some KAMO posters printed, and we hung them up at a couple area businesses?including the Children?s Museum. I believe we have a few still available if your Chapter is wanting some to help advertise our group.

Most of the meeting was spent planning our upcoming campout at Castle Rock County Park (June 26?28th). We have kayaks, bikes, a paddleboard, bean bag games plus a fishing boat and ski boat lined up. We set the menu and divided up the cooking responsibilities. It has all of the makings for a fun weekend! There are 13 kids signed up between our Chapter and Dodge County, which should be a good size group.
In addition, our group was contacted about supplying fishing poles for the Sauk County 4H camp in June and we are working to secure poles and plan to donate them next week. The Sauk County Fair is July 7th?12th this year.

Our next meeting will be at 7pm Monday July 13th at the Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center.

Coulee – We had a June 3rd Meet and Greet at a campsite at Neshonoc Lakeside Park. It was well attended, but some potential new people could not come at the last minute. We?ll follow up with them. The leader of a local friends group came by to discuss the potential for our groups to work together in the future, since it is difficult to get volunteers and there is quite a bit of overlap with our groups? missions.
On Saturday, June 6th, at Goose Island, we had a brief class at Goose Island to talk about Wisconsin?s 8 species of bats. This was followed by 7 participants counting bats emerging from a shelter and 2 bat houses associated with a shelter there.
On Tuesday, June 9th, beginning at noon, a local ornithologist paired to provide 13 kids and staff from the West Salem Boys and Girls Club with a bird viewing hike at Myrick Park. The emphasis was on marsh birds and afterwards, the kids were treated to ice cream and drinks that mentor John Haeser brought by.

Dodge – DCC KAMO report for June. We started out the month with a Brat fry in Watertown at Glens market. Things were rocking and rolling all day long and I think we reached out to an area that knew nothing about KAMO. That same day we had mentors at the Free fishing day put on by the Beaver Dam Lake association. Over 100 kids participated and fun was had by all. Marshfield hospital also held their safety day and we had mentors there talking about hunter?s safety. Then to top it all off the Co-chapter camp out. What a beautiful weekend. A. special shout-out to all the mentors and Eric and Sarah Berglund, our Tubing boat drivers for making the weekend unforgettable. To all the kids that were there as well for making our job easy. Fish were caught by just about all the kids in our past presidents boat as well.
Our chapter started 2 Learn to Shoot Bow classes with 8 kids in one class and 9 in the other. Sponsored by Whitetails unlimited and R & J Farming and trucking. Northwoods – Hello From the Northwoods!!
We are in the craziest time of the year, we had a float in the Florence parade on the 27th and will also represent Saturday the 4th in Long Lake on the other end of the county. Our fishing event will be on July 11th at Lake Emily in Florence, always huge!! 5 bikes were donated from the Lost Lake camp to raffle off at the fishing event. The Propbusters RC aircraft club invited a few members out on July 18th for a fundraiser for Kamo also. Last year it was about $600.. This has been our busiest year to date for our chapter in 2026!!! Good things ahead!
