We heard from a partner group – the Sara Rose Hougum Foundation, that they are not having the Day at the Lake event, typically held in August, this year.
Tuesday, September 8th – 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – KAMO/ Big Brothers – Big Sisters Campfire/ Activity evening at the Pettibone Park Lagoon pavilion. Open to the public – please give us a heads up if you might come. We?ll have a small firepit where we will roast marshmallows and hotdogs. Yard games. Bring fish poles if you want or let us know you are interested in fishing while there and would like to use our equipment. This has been a popular event that we haven?t done since 2024.
Friday, August 21st – Internet Field Day. Hunters ed class (firearms safety class for those who have had the online). Onalaska American Legion – 7:40 – 1:45. If your child hasn’t taken the online portion, get ahold of Mike and he?ll send you a link to enroll in an approved class, which your child can easily complete before class if you look into it soon.. We tried to find a common day during the early school year when most kids we know that need the certification have off and that didn?t work out.. We have reserved half the seats for KAMO followers like you and they are currently all (11) open.
If you are interested in this or another field day, feel free to call Mike with questions. There are some things that are easier to discuss verbally. For example, how to get a seat in the class and how to find another class if this one doesn?t fit in your schedule.
Saturday, August 29th – 9:30 – 11:30 am – Brice Prairie Visitor Center – Wildflowers and Watercolor – Jan Wellik from EcoExpression. Registration required – www.EcoExpressions.org
Free. Open to adults and kids 8 and older. All materials provided. Take your artwork home.
Did you know? – The Brice Prairie Conservation Club is offering use of their cabin near Lytle’s Landing for groups like yours to have nature activities. It doesn?t see enough use.
Do you have something outdoor/ nature related in mind? Let us know what you are thinking and see if we can help with it.
